Medicare Supplement Plans
If you keep Original Medicare, you can supplement it by enrolling in a Medicare Supplement plan. The Medicare Supplement plans available under the Health Options Program are the HOP Medical Plan and the Value Medical Plan.
With both Medicare Supplement plans, you can enroll in medical-only coverage or add on prescription drug coverage with a Medicare Rx Option (see below).

Comparable coverage for your spouse
If you and your spouse are both PSERS retirees, you may individually enroll in any option. If your spouse is NOT a PSERS retiree and is Medicare-eligible, he or she must enroll in the same plan that you enroll in. If your spouse is not eligible for Medicare, he or she must enroll in the same type of plan that you enroll in (the HOP Pre-65 Medical Plan if you enroll in the HOP or Value Medical Plan, or a managed care plan offered by the same insurance company if you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan).
For your consideration: If your spouse will have a Qualifying Event in the next year and is also considering enrolling, but not at the same time you will enroll, you may want to consider electing an option now that is good for both of you. Otherwise, your next opportunity to change options will be next fall during the Option Selection Period.

Medicare Rx Options
If you select a Medicare Supplement plan, you can enroll in one of the three Medicare Rx Options: Enhanced, Basic, or Value. You can also enroll in these options on a stand-alone basis if you don’t want medical coverage.

Find a pharmacy
Use the applicable online tool to search for participating pharmacies near you by street address, city and state or by ZIP code. The pharmacy lookup tool is from OptumRx, the administrator of the Health Options Program’s prescription drug plans. These tools also provide general pricing information.
Health Options Program Star Rating
Each year, Medicare evaluates prescription drug plans and awards a star rating to each plan based on performance. The Health Options Program’s prescription drug plans received a 4.5-star rating for 2024, indicating that the program is highly rated in comparison to other prescription drug plans nationwide.
Dental and Vision Option
Protecting your smile and your eyesight is important to your overall health. That’s why the Health Options Program offers a comprehensive dental and vision option for members enrolled in the HOP Medical Plan or the Value Medical Plan. Dental and vision coverage is not available on a stand-alone basis or with a Medicare Advantage plan.

Find a dentist
Visit the MetLife website to find a participating dentist near you. Scroll to the middle of the page, and, under MetLife Dental Plan, enter your ZIP code. Then, select Find. You can filter the results by specialty, distance, gender, and language.

The SilverSneakers® fitness program from Tivity Health, Inc. gives members enrolled in the HOP Medical Plan or the HOP Pre-65 Medical Plan access to a fitness program at no additional cost.
